Via Hansa & Borealis has – as is the case right across the tourism industry – been hit hard by the covid-19 crisis. The company has been through a period of adjustments; staff and costs have been significantly reduced. However, the whole company and all of the offices in the Nordic and Baltic countries, Russia, Poland and Ukraine are still operative. Hans-Henrik Kjoelby, CEO, explains: “We realized early on what we were up against and took the necessary decisions in the spring to reorganize the whole company so that we were able to survive on our own funds until we will see recovery. What is left now is the most experienced, the most professional and the most creative staff. Time has been used to analyze the situation with key suppliers and customers, to upgrade the qualifications of the staff and to prepare for 2021 with new, creative and covid-19-proof products. We firmly believe that we have enough assets, resolve and steadfastness to survive this unprecedented crisis.” Via Hansa & Borealis is for the time being not planning to participate in any physical fairs or workshops. Over the last half-year, the company has had numerous online meetings with customers, organized webinars with product presentations and participated in many online workshops. At the moment the company is developing new digital marketing tools, which will be used in the future. All customers will in the coming months receive information about new products and programs and about the possibility to have online meetings and participate in workshops and webinars in preparation for the 2021 season.
