THE MARIINSKY PALACE IN KYIV RE-OPENED TO VISITORS

Following the completion of a fourteen-year long renovation, the Ukrainian government has decided to reopen the Mariinsky Palace to the public. Set on a hill over the Dnipro River, the palace was built in the middle of the 18th Century by order of Russian Empress Elisabeth. The palace has since Ukrainian independence was restored in 1991 been the ceremonial home of the Ukrainian president and have hosted countless state receptions, gala dinners, meetings and more. Now also the public can visit the place, enjoy the impressive Baroque architecture and richly decorated interior with antique furniture, chandeliers, paintings, murals etc..
