THE WORLD’S FIRST ENERGY POSITIVE HOTEL

Nordic hotel infrastructure is moving fast towards sustainability. Recently is was announced that  the Svart hotel, located within the Arctic Circle on the edge of Norway's Holandsfjord at the base of the Svartisen glacier, will be the world’s first energy-positive hotel.  Designed in a distinctive ring shape that allows visitors to feel in touch with the surroundings, the structure of the building was inspired by traditional Norwegian fishing structures: the “fiskehjell,” an A-shaped wooden structure for drying fish, and the “rorbue,” a type of seasonal house used by fishermen. The hotel is expected to open its doors on the last quarter of 2022. For more information about sustainable hotels in the Nordic countries, please contact copenhagen@viahansaborealis.com
